Tell me how you first met? Lach and I were introduced by two friends who thought we would be good for each other. Whilst we hit it off straight away, living in towns 100km apart we didn’t get to see each other that often, although we spoke via text most of the time. We remained friends for the next 18 months whilst Lachlan traveled Europe and I traveled the USA, then Lach moved to Brisbane and I didn’t see much of him for the next 6 months. Later that year I moved up to Brisbane and there we found our spark and haven’t looked back since. Lachlan will say that I chased him to Brisbane, but I would say that he just beat me to get here. Either way, we ended up right where we were supposed to.
When did you know he/she was the one? Jayde: Once we moved in to gather I really felt that he was the one. Life is easy by his side and I always look forward to coming home to him, he’s my best friend and we have so much fun together. Lachlan: I can’t pinpoint a moment as such, but during the time I was off work with my wrist cemented the way I felt about her.
Tell me about the proposal. Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? We had planned a New Zealand ski trip however 3 months before we left Lachlan badly broke his wrist which kept him off work for about 4 months. Because of this, we weren’t able to skit when we arrived in New Zealand. So instead of joining the others, we had to find something to do for the first few days of the trip. Lach really wanted to go on a helicopter ride and I couldn’t figure out why he was so keen, we had only just got to New Zealand and there was so much to see and do I thought a helicopter was a little over the top to start our trip. Little did I know he wanted to propose on a glacier! Anyway, we decided to visit Lake Tekapo and spent the day in the hot springs, getting massages and hiking. We hiked Mount John and once at the top Lach told me to pose for a picture. Fumbling with the camera and not managing to take much of a photo I walked back over to see what was going on when he told me to hold still. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He must have been pretty nervous or perhaps it was the altitude, but he opened the ring box the wrong way and proposed to himself! haha!
Tell me one thing you love most about each other?Jayde: I love how kind Lachlan is to me and everyone around him, he is the most genuine person I’ve met and I feel so loved by him. Lachlan: I don’t know, I just love her.
Besides getting married — what was the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day? Jayde: To spend time with all those closest to us. We live a long way from our family & friends that we grew up with so anytime we are all together is very special.
