Gold Coast Engagement Photographer

Your Gold Coast engagement photoshoot is more than just a checklist item; it’s an afternoon to slow down, escape the wedding planning stress, and simply be yourselves.

Whether we’re chasing the last light at The Spit or enjoying a quiet morning at your home, these sessions are the best way to document that “just engaged” glow before the big day arrives.

Creating a Connection Before Your Wedding Day

Now that you’ve secured your date and venue, it’s time to celebrate the fun part! Making those big decisions—the venue, the date, the guest list—is the hardest part of wedding planning, and you’ve nailed it. Now, let’s focus on the experience.

I include engagement sessions in The Wedding Experience because I’ve seen first-hand how much they transform your wedding day photos. Think of this as a “no-pressure” date where you get used to my style and learn that “posing” isn’t nearly as scary as it sounds.

When I show up on your wedding morning, we won’t be strangers. I’ll already know how you two naturally interact—the way you lean into each other or what makes you laugh—allowing me to capture genuine moments from the first click. You’ll walk into your wedding feeling like a pro, completely relaxed and ready to enjoy every second.

Planning Your Session: Timing & Logistics

To keep things stress-free, most couples schedule their Gold Coast engagement photoshoot 3 to 6 months before the wedding.

To capture that dreamy, golden-hour glow, I typically shoot on weekdays starting about 60–90 minutes before sunset. During the crisp Gold Coast winter, the light drops faster, so we might start as early as 3:00 pm. On the Gold Coast, we are blessed with incredible “blue hour” light right after the sun dips behind the hinterland—perfect for those moody, romantic frames.

Insider’s Guide: The Best Gold Coast Engagement Locations

Choosing a location is about more than just a pretty backdrop; I love it when couples choose a spot that holds a memory—like where you had your first date or the beach where you walk your dog every weekend. If you’re stuck, don’t worry—I have a list of secret spots with incredible lighting. Whether it’s a rugged cliffside, a hidden alleyway, or even a local laundromat, if there’s good light, we can make magic happen.

My Personal Favorites for Engagement Photos in 2026:

  • The Spit, Gold Coast: Perfect for that classic beach sunset with a mix of rugged greenery, sand dunes, and ocean views.
  • Springbrook National Park: For couples who want epic waterfall views, ancient trees, and moody forest vibes in the hinterland.
  • Tallebudgera Creek: Incredible turquoise water and calm, sheltered vibes for a relaxed morning or afternoon shoot.
  • Brisbane Powerhouse & Mt Coot-tha: Ideal for an urban, editorial feel or a lush, structured botanical garden backdrop.
