The Old Dairy Maleny wedding Photography – Nadia & Lewis
Tell me how you first met? Who what when where why ? We actually unknowingly went to the same primary school together but never knew each other (he’s 2 years younger than me!). We also went to the same high school as each other and mixed in the same circle sometimes but had no interest in talking to one another. 5 years after graduating from school we began socializing with mutual friends and it just went from there. It took a while but after years of knowing each other, we actually got to know each other!
When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did ?. etc. I think we both kind of knew pretty quickly after the night of our first kiss (it sounds so silly). It wasn’t the kiss so much as it was actually getting to know each other. We got along so well and spent a lot of time together after that night. Things moved quite fast for us and after only 9 months we had bought a house together and had begun our first renovation. After getting through a whole house renovation without killing each other or breaking up I knew for sure he was the one I was going to discuss interior wall colours with for the rest of my life.
About the proposal. Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? , how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out ? I so did not see it coming! I was hoping, as all girls do. We had been planning a trip to Italy with my parents to see my family and to travel around and show Lewis some of the country. I was hoping it would happen there but was fairly certain it was definitely not going to happen. I knew this because I had been the one who packed Lewis’ bags and he didn’t go near them to be able to slip them in the ring. I had no idea that my parents were the ones who were carrying the ring over for Lewis so that I wouldn’t find it.
We were spending the night in Venice with my parents. The plan was to have a nice dinner with my parents and then go to Piazza San Marco at night as I had never seen it at night. I didn’t notice that Lewis had a jacket on even though it was summer. I also didn’t notice his apparently sweaty palms (he only told me about this after). I was happily taking photos of the square when he began talking about how long we had been together. I put my phone down thinking he wanted to have a nice conversation and he continued to say “4 years, 2 houses and 1 dog later. Will, you marry me, Nadia?”. Which resulted in me bursting into tears and repeatedly saying “really Lewy?” for about 3 minutes… Anyway, I finally saw the most beautiful ring through my tears and said yes.
We continued to walk around Venice, called all our loved ones and drank a bottle of Prosecco.
Best night ever.
One thing you love most about each other I think we both love the way we can be 100% ourselves around each other… and still loving them.
Besides getting married — what was the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day ? Seeing all our friends and family in one place and having a really great time. Also having some of my family from Italy mixing with everyone else will be great too!
What’s your favourite trend for weddings right now ? Unplugged weddings! We’re definitely doing this.
What inspired your decor or themes ? I love greenery… Lewis isn’t much a flower person either so a lot of our ideas came from a relaxed woodland sort of feel/theme.
