Gold Coast Wedding Photography – Amelia & Bryce – Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove

Tell me how you first met? We met for the first time through mutual friends from Griffith University.  It was towards the end of 2014.

When did you know he/she was the one?  Amelia: I’m not sure! Fairly much as soon as we started dating we were inseparable. I traveled to Fiji for a friend’s wedding in July 2015. This was the first time that we’d been apart, and I genuinely missed him! I think that was the first time that I knew my relationship with Bryce was special. Bryce: I knew pretty soon on in the relationship. I knew because the relationship wasn’t forced, it was effortless, and it just seemed right because we were inseparable…

Tell me about the proposal? Amelia:It was a Friday afternoon, we had taken a long weekend to go to Mount Tambourine for a “mini-holiday” after I had submitted my PhD thesis. It was a time of huge stress for me, so I was completely oblivious to what was happening. On the day we went up there, I remember thinking Bryce was a bit of a mess. He had forgotten most of his toiletries, and heaps of everyday things like socks. After we arrived at our “chateaux” for the weekend and Bryce had set up a fire in the fireplace, I decided to make myself a cup of tea in the kitchen. Before I could, Bryce told me that in addition to the weekend away being a special treat to celebrate the end of my PhD degree, he had also planned something else and that I had to close my eyes. I could feel the floorboards move beneath my feet, and I knew that he was on one knee. All I could think was “what’s happening”? I’m pretty sure that’s all I said for a little while once I had opened my eyes and had seen him on one knee!! I eventually remembered to say yes! We spent the weekend just in a complete bubble of love. From Friday to Sunday, it was our special secret. On Sunday afternoon, we left the Mountain, and traveled back down and visited both of our parents. Vicki (Bryce’s mum) knew that he had a ring, and that was the first thing that she looked for when we came home. Dad also knew that he was going to propose (he had asked dad a couple of months beforehand apparently… it was important to me that he did the traditional thing and ask permission) but dad didn’t know when he was planning it. The rest of my family (mum and brother Daniel) were as in the dark as I had been about it all! Bryce: I went to do this a few times, but Amelia finishing her PhD got in the way. So everything I had booked, I had to re-book to make sure the timing was right for both of us – that is after she finished her PhD. I booked a private villa up on mount tambourine and suggested we spend a weekend away as a celebration of Amelia finishing her PhD. She had no idea that I had planned to propose. When we arrived, we had a few drinks and then put the wood fire on because it was getting cold. I mentioned that I had bought her a little present for completing her PhD and said that she closes her eyes before I gave it to her. When she covered her eyes, I got down on one knee in front of the fire and popped the question. She was absolutely shocked and it was the best shock of her life!

Tell me one thing you love most about each other? Amelia: Bryce genuinely understands me. He is caring and considerate. He is patient and kind. There are the odd times where we disagree, but we are both adult and rational enough to be able to talk about it afterward and we come to an understanding. He’s honest, passionate and genuine. I love everything about him. Bryce: Everything – there is not one thing about this person that I do not love. She is smart, beautiful, career-driven, thoughtful, caring, selfless; she is everything.

Besides getting married — what was the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day? Amelia: Having my dad walk me down the aisle will be special. Dad and I are very close, so I think that’s going to be an amazing moment and feeling 🙂 I’m also looking forward to having my best friends fly over from the UK – I speak to them almost every day via texts or facebook messages, but we’ve only been able to visit each other in person twice in the last 10 years. Bryce: Everything!

What inspired your decor or themes? We wanted something simple and timeless. Neutral colors are never out of fashion, and hopefully will always look elegant!
